The Bugaboo Boys

My friend Chris, his partner Alice and their boy Isaac came over for lunch and walk on the Heath. Two Bugaboos meant we got extra Heath points ;)

Daddy Day Care

Ackers is on boy care on Saturdays. I am also on boy care on Saturdays. This time we got together and Jude and Elias spent a few hours playing. Jude loved hanging out with older Jude and Jude was gentle and fun with Elias.

Stefanie came back from work and Ben and I took the two boys out onto the Heath. They fell asleep before we got to the end of the road - slept for an hour and a half as Ben and I walked and talked and sat to chat - and woke as we arrived back home. Perfect. This Saturday day care ensemble may become a regular.

The somnorific effects of food

Stephanie just phoned to tell me that Elias just fell asleep in his high chair in the middle of lunch - he's never done that!

(note: I made up the word somnorific - it means sleep inducing)

Highgate Cemetery

Ben and Sophie came over on Sunday afternoon for tea and cake walked off in Highgate Cemetery. Rainy day. Elias on playful form. Sophie very pregnant and now two days over the due date. I don't know if I have said but they know they are having a daughter and we know that she won't be called Marianne!!

More Switzerland photos 1

First Fever

Elias has just been in the grip of his first fever - scary stuff. The first night back from Switzerland he didn't sleep much after 1am and yesterday was snotty, dribbling, hot and red. It was horrible to see him so unhappy and scary to find him so hot. I dashed home from work when he was limp and wouldn't wake in the morning. Today I can report that he's looking and I think feeling much better.

Second high chair

Top tip from Mr Ackland - get a second high chair for hanging out in the kitchen. Ikea - £15.

So he eats with us at the table in a Tripp Trapp which is good for posture but can chill in the kitchen with us and some toys whilst we prepare food. Means we don't have to keep running after him to check on what he's doing.

Our neighbours lent us an inflatable ring to contain his roaming but he gets out of it every time head first.

For once I won't talk about sleep, but that does not mean it's good!

Life these days

The little man is changing and changing. Currently teething like crazy - 3 teeth coming through on top. Obsessed with saying "dye dye!" and waving every morning when I leave for work. Ignoring his toys and playing with anything lying around that is not a toy. Standing up whenever he can - particularly when he wakes up in the night so the side of his cot is now up and locked. Sleeping most night in his own room. Enjoying upright positions in the Bugaboo and about to migrate to a bigger boys car seat. Since yesterday he has a second high chair in the kitchen where he can sit and play whilst we prepare food. He loves going out, particularly if it's windy, and we had a couple of great windy walks on the Heath this weekend where Elias slept the whole time. He is still as hectic as ever but a lot of fun to hang out with. Stefanie and I getting a bit more sleep too. Looking forward to a trip to Switzerland soon and to take him walking by the lake and in the mountains...
